Here are some of the things I've been doing lately to stay active:
- Lunges, push ups, squat jumps, sumo squats and jumping jacks. This has been my go to. When I don't feel like working out but need to do something, this is what I do. I'll do walking lunges, front lunges and lots of jumping lunges. I'll usually end up doing about 20-25 minutes of work. And I can do it in our family room. In front of the TV. 2 birds with one stone!
- I've done this leg workout a few times, but it is a KILLER! Like you may not be able to get through it one time killer. Two times through and I'm spent.

- Another go to is my tight and tone full body workout:
- And when all else fails, I'll go back to my 6 exercises you'll always see me doing.
Even though I still feel like I'm in somewhat of a "rut," I always try to do some sort of activity at least 3-4 days a week...or more on a good week. If I can keep that up, I usually get my mojo back quickly and start pushing harder during my workouts.
Question of the day: What do you do to get out of a workout rut? Any go to exercises you do when you just don't feel like doing anything?

I need to do all of these! I can't really speak to workout ruts because I'm never really in much of a routine (not good, haha) but my husband, who usually works out everyday has been in a rut the past week or so- maybe it's the time of year?
ReplyDeleteI work out once or twice a day, but not always motivated. I need to try these out! Thanks for posting!! Talk about burning the buns ;)
ReplyDeleteDiddly squat's probably don't count!?!? Hahahaha! ;) Saw that somewhere and loved it. I have bad knee's that have been passed down to me, so I need to be riding my exercise bike and doing leg lifts to build muscle to support my knees... but, I just get too bored! After reading everything you do, I'm feeling like a slacker, so... I'm gonna go hop on my bike. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I am in a rut it means I am burnt out on my old routine so I tend to start a new program. For runs I pick a new route or get a new playlist, or run with a friend. If I stay in my rut for too long I get crabby. My workout is my me time! I will have to try that leg workout though..just not today. It was leg day! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Bekah. I rarely get bored with my runs, but I haven't been doing them as much lately.
DeleteYou should for sure try the leg one. It's a killer!
I recently signed up for a mommy bootcamp class, and honestly? I hadn't worked out in probably two years before that. Yikes! But throw in a pregnancy and baby and someone who will come up with any excuse NOT to work out and it's not really that surprising. lol! We do a lot of core work outs and squats and I'm actually really glad I'm going!
ReplyDeleteUsually an added 5 lbs of weight helps me out of my workout rut. LOL
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I find regular yoga practice makes me want to work out in other ways.
When I feel better I'll make sure to try one of your workouts.
Thanks for sharing.

At least you are doing these? I was more into working out last pregnancy but since then I have developed this love for walking. I just walk every day now. I hope that isn't horrible. I feel on track with my weight gain and everything in this pregnancy so I'm hoping that's not too bad. :)
